Ideal for rehabilitating and testing people who are in a wheelchair or are physically disabled, the Monark 891E upper-body ergometer is designed to meet the rigorous demands of hospitals, universities, rehabilitation centers, and testing facilities. The 891E works simply, with a pair of arm pedals offering fitness and endurance testing of the upper body. The testing subject merely sits at or wheels up to the ergometer and starts rotating the pedals, which will strengthen the muscles and boost the heart rate. The 891E also offers a patented, self-regulated braking system that doesn't need calibration. As long as the basket is in the air and the weights are correct, then the brake force is correct. To release the weight basket and start resistance work, the user merely pushes the button.
The electronic display, meanwhile, offers a host of measurable, including pedal revolutions per minute (RPM), heart rate, time, speed, distance, calories burned, and cycle power. Other details include an adjustable table stand to fit any user, a chest belt for measuring the heart rate, bottom wheels for easy transport, and individual crank length adjustments. The 891E measures 28 by 65 by 59 inches (W x H x D), weighs 132 pounds, and carries a one-year warranty.
